Who is eligible to enrol in the Building Inspection Academy?
The program is open only to registered building practitioners. Eligible registrations include Registered Building Practitioner (DBU), Registered Building Inspector, Registered Building Surveyor, and Registered Architect. Licence verification is required before enrolment is confirmed.
Is this a certified or accredited course?
No, this is not a Cert IV or nationally accredited course. It is a private, hands-on mentorship and coaching program designed by an inspector with 20+ years of experience to provide practical skills that standard certificates often lack.
How long does the program take to complete?
Most participants complete the program within 3 months. Phase 1 is a 2–3 day classroom intensive. Phase 2 involves a minimum of 10 supervised live inspections, which are scheduled around real property availability. Completion depends on competency demonstrated, not a fixed calendar date.
How does the "Insurance Pathway" work?
The academy works in collaboration with Rapid Insurance. Throughout your training, you learn to write defensible reports that meet insurer expectations. By the time you complete your supervised inspections, you have the documentation practices and understanding required to pursue professional cover with confidence.
What software will I be trained on?
You will be trained on Hello Inspections, a professional reporting platform used by working inspectors. During your training, you will learn to configure the system, apply BIA’s proprietary defect library, and build inspection workflows that produce clean, defensible reports. By graduation, you can operate the platform efficiently from day one.
